There isn’t much the artist would like to be told about himself.
Because freedom and privacy are key values in his existence.
Notoriety seems to be the antithesis of his quest.
Living in a calm and isolated place, looking towards the sea, deciphering the horizon and the pastel shades of a disappearing sun, this is how we could sum up his approach to color, light,… & life!
These are the tones that he tirelessly strives to transcribe in his paintings and portraits.
And if the quest for intimacy is for him much more than second nature, the happiness of sharing his colors with others gives him intense satisfaction.
Paradoxical, the artist is also in his approach to the subjects addressed. And if portraits hold a special place in his repertoire, abstraction also takes its place in the reveries that he ends up imprinting on his canvas.
With a hyphen between the two that can be summed up in one word: Color!
And this is not the last of his contradictions. Adept of reality, of material, of woven cotton or linen canvas, of the soft and opaque structure of an oil painting whose scents are a link between inner reverie and contemplation of an actual artwork, the artist remains stubbornly passionate about Digital.
The touch screen then replaces the canvas. The iPencil replaces the brush. But the touch remains. The contact is transformed, without disappearing, as he would say himself. It performs its moult, and the pleasure reappears. In the colors. In translating ideas into images. In sharing!
So, don’t be surprised to see him one day pacing the workshop, and another day, leaning against a confy cushion with his iPad Pro, twirling his pencil around it, his eyebrow furrowing, then finally reaching out, with a mischievous look, a shimmering sketch that asks only to get out of its digital frame.
And if you had to be surprised more, you would do it by observing his photographic series addressing other themes that are close to his heart, and which join this call for freedom that the artist constantly seeks to express.
So keep an open mind, and let yourself be carried away by your own freedom. You could then share, whenever you want, a piece of a colorful road with the artist.
